What do you wish clients already knew?
There is so much uncertainty and unpredictability in search. One day, a campaign is doing great, and another day, it is not. It is not always a destination but a journey, and Google is the Wild West. Google will throw things at us weekly that keep us students of our own profession.
At the end of the day, what’s something that can make you smile?
It is pretty quiet when things are going well. So, to get a positive note out of the blue means a lot.
When you’re not sitting in front of a computer, what are you doing?
My favorite thing to do is work out. I love movement of any kind. Every day I wake up, I want to sweat and feel strong. It is my therapy.
What got you into this career?
Believe it or not, my first job was at Home Shopping Network. I wanted to work in fashion merchandising but quickly learned that it wasn’t for me. I left the job and posted my résumé on Monster.com. A local marketing agency was looking for young people to build out keywords. They called me for an interview, and I got the job. It just clicked. Six months later, I was running the team. I have been doing this work ever since.
